How To Best Store Basil -

Basil does not do well in the cold, both in the garden as well as post-harvest. We find the best way to keep basil is to store it at room temperature in a jar or vase filled with clean water, like shown in the picture. If basil is stored in the refrigerator, its leaves may start to turn gray. This is cold damage. Storing at room temperature takes care of that issue, and basil stays fresh for over a week this way (just be sure to freshen the water regularly).
